Mexican peso dances to rhythm of US

election campaign

"Election day in the United States cannot come soon enough for the Mexican peso, especially if Hillary Clinton is the winner". This is how this article in El Universal is started off. This article goes on to discuss the many ways that the peso can be harmed by Trump's possible win, including a description of its rise and fall in value following presidential debates and Clinton's case of pneumonia. When she had pneumonia and her ability to win was in question, the peso dropped in value, but it raised ever so slightly after each presidential debate, as Clinton was wrongly portrayed the guaranteed winner of the electoral race following. The article also engages in some talk about trade and the movement of the peso's value based on the likelihood of Trump changing trade agreements.

Overall, between the information expressed in this article and the conflicts created by Trump's belief that Mexico should pay for a wall has likely lead to negative views of him among the Mexican people. It's rather safe to say those views have not increased as his presidency has started and continued.
